Flower preservation is an art with several very different techniques. Each varies in cost and finish, and the right one depends on your flowers, your budget, and how you want to display the result.

The five methods

• Traditional pressing — blooms are flattened and set behind glass. Affordable and classic; colors soften into a vintage palette.
• Silica gel drying — a drying agent holds the flower's shape and color. A great middle ground.
• Freeze drying — the premium method for keeping both shape and color true to the day.
• Resin preservation — flowers are suspended in clear resin as 3D art: durable, modern, and endlessly customizable.
• Custom framing — preservation combined with display, from petite frames to statement walls.

How to decide

Think about display first: wall art points to pressing and framing; shelf or desk pieces point to resin. Then think about finish — resin keeps flowers dimensional and glossy, pressing gives a delicate botanical-print look.
